An
interview to Stelios Kouloglou
The
secret recipe of Troika imposing austerity on the people of Europe
reveals the recent documentary by the famous German research
journalist Harald Schumann, entitled "Omnipotent and
Uncontrollable: The Troika" which will be screened on April 21
at the European Parliament in Brussels. The event was organized and
coordinated by MEP SYRIZA Stelios Kouloglou.
A few days
before the screening, the German journalist who has been strident
criticism of the government of his country through his work and the
Greek journalist who has researched the dark role of economic
"hitmen" through his documentaries, talk in front of the
camera, giving an enlightening look at the controversial role of the
Troika, but also at the plans of the European institutions for
Greece. As characteristically Harald Schumann says to Stelios
Kouloglou, the policies that have been followed, made Europe today
look like a "financial dictatorship".
A few
words about the "omnipotent and uncontrollable" Troika
After the
documentary "The secret bank bailouts» (Staatsgeheimnis
Bankenrettung) for which he was awarded with the highest journalism
award in Germany in 2014, Schumann investigates, for a year, traces
of Troika from the beginning of the economic crisis until today. For
this purpose, he travels in Portugal, Cyprus, Ireland, Brussels,
London, Berlin, the USA and Greece and attempts to shed light on its
controversial and "dark" part. In order to get the loans
they need to deal with the crisis, European states must be aligned
with the requirements of the three key institutions that make up the
troika: the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European
Commission (EC) and the European Central Bank (ECB).
Schumann
finds that Troika impose to democratically elected governments a
comprehensive government program, which are forced to implement by
signing a Memorandum of Understanding. Humiliation, fear and
subjugation are components of the prescription provided by Troika.
According to the representative of Brazil to the IMF, Paulo Nogueira
Batista: "The worst thing that can happen to a country, is to
fall into the hands of international bureaucrats" who calls
"technocrats without a country."
The
screening
The
screening of the documentary "Omnipotent and Uncontrollable: The
Troika" will take place on April 21 in Room P3C050 in the
European Parliament in Brussels.
After the
screening in the European Parliament, a discussion will be held which
will be coordinated by Stelios Kouloglou. Together with the creator
of the documentary, the MEPs Philippe Lamberts (Greens / EFA) and
Elisa Ferreira (Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and
Democrats) who participate in the documentary, will take part in the
discussion.
